Castle Hill Farm House dates from 1680 and the rooms are of typical cottage
proportions, ceiling beams are low in some rooms and there is a step from the bedrooms to the private bathrooms, which may make access difficult for people with limited mobility. There are 4 steps with a handrail, and a further 3 steps without a rail down to the front door. The house is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Guests have their own private entrance and can come and go as they wish.
Arrival and car parking
Guests can arrive anytime after 2 pm unless otherwise arranged.
We offer assistance with luggage.
We are located with a road on 3 sides. At the side and back there is free on-road parking, and off road parking behind the house for one medium sized car.
The nearest bus stop is in Bakewell town centre, a few minutes walk away.
The nearest train stations are Chesterfield, Buxton and Matlock. Buses run from the stations to Bakewell.
The front door is a bit awkward, rather like a sheep gate, as it opens on to the side of the staircase and has to be partly closed for guests to enter the dining room. The dining room is carpeted and has a gas fire in cold weather, including central heating throughout. A selection of local information, books and maps are on display.
There are 9 stairs to the bedrooms with a handrail on one side. There are private facilities for both rooms including a shower, washbasin and WC. In room 2 there is also a bath. Tea and coffee facilities and bottled water are provided. An electric fan is provided in summer if required. There is a wardrobe and chest of drawers in each bedroom. Digital TV is fitted in both rooms.
Our beds are made with synthetic duvets, cotton bedspreads and feather pillows. Synthetic pillows are available on request. All bed linen and towels are Egyptian cotton. Sheets and blankets can be provided if required.
